How to get to San Salvador de Jujuy?

Road

Jujuy can be reached by road mainly via National Routes 9 and 34.

National Route 9 connects Argentina’s capital with La Quiaca, passing through cities such as Rosario, Santa Fe, Córdoba, Tucumán, Salta, San Salvador de Jujuy, Tilcara, and Humahuaca.

National Route 34 begins in Rosario and passes through Santiago del Estero, Tucumán, General Güemes (Salta), San Pedro de Jujuy, and Libertador General San Martín, before reaching Profesor Salvador Mazza (Salta).

National Route 40, the longest road in Argentina (4,667 km), is another, less frequently used access route. It connects the cities of Abra Pampa (Jujuy) and Río Gallegos (Santa Cruz), crossing western Argentina and passing through destinations such as San Antonio de los Cobres (the endpoint of the Train to the Clouds), Cafayate, Tucumán, San Juan, Mendoza, San Martín de los Andes, Esquel, and El Calafate.

Jujuy can also be reached from the north via National Route 34, through the Aguas Blancas and Salvador Mazza border crossings in Salta Province.

There are two international border crossings connecting Jujuy with Chile and Bolivia. The Jama Pass provides access to Jujuy from the Pacific coast through Chile, while the La Quiaca–Villazón crossing connects Jujuy with Bolivia.

International bus services also connect Jujuy with northern Chile, including Antofagasta (824 km) and Iquique (1,008 km).

The main long-distance bus companies traveling to San Salvador de Jujuy from different destinations across Argentina include Balut, Flecha Bus, Andesmar, La Veloz del Norte, and 20 de Junio.
